Hi F&F,
Hurricane Irene sentenced me to 24 hours under house arrest. I decided to be a model inmate and use the time productively by starting a new crochet project.
I name all of my projects. I’m calling this one the “Take That Irene Shawl”. It’s my defiant response to Hurricane Irene’s attempt to intimidate me and steal my joy.
Here are the details:
Pattern Name: Sunspree One Skein Shawl
Source: Naturally Caron.com
Yarn: Karabella Aurora Space Dyed Yarn
Hook: 5.5 millimeter
Nero fiddled while Rome burned and I fiddled with yarn as Irene stormed. I love to crochet. I believe love and fear can’t exist in the same space. I’m glad that I had crochet to abolish anxiety and banish boredom; a lifeline. I’m glad it is over. I’m glad that my family is safe. I am glad that in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene, the only remnant of the storm will be a new shawl.
Peace,

Good for you. I actually went out to dinner on Friday but stocked on food and prepared go bags for the entire family. The cats were sure to have dishes and food of their choice. My son and I only had things like water, pumpkin seeds and energy bars. What can I possibly say about my choices that you have not already heard.
Overall, I am happy that we came through in NYC as well as we did.
Sounds like you stocked up on survivalist rations, while I went for my version of comfort food. I am glad that those in my circle of friends and family came out relatively unscathed by the storm.
Can’t wait to see the finished product!! So far the color and design is very pretty.
Hi Mildred,
I’ve been missing my Thursday’s with the group. Recently it seems all my appointments, activities and tasks have had Thursday due dates! 😦 I finished the shawl and just put it up for blocking. I’ll bring it to the meeting for a show and tell and photo op. Also, I saw your Webs yarn haul on your blog; fantastic. I am eager to to see what new projects those luxurious yarns will inspire.
