Hi F&F,
I’ve traveled to Washington, DC many times; for business and for pleasure. It’s a place that always makes me feel like an excited kid on an annual school trip. I know I’ll see the familiar sights – the Capital, the Washington Monument and the like; yet I never tire of it.
My most recent trip was just this past June. At this point in my life I’ve seen most of the major landmarks of DC. You might say that I’ve completed my macro survey course of the city. With my most recent visit, I was enrolled in the micro course on Washington, DC; taking in more of the details of the city. While strolling along the National Mall I came across a path situated between the Smithsonian Castle and the Arts and Industries Building. You could easily pass by it because it’s hidden behind the showy Folger Rose Garden. This visit I walked past the roses and followed the twisting landscaped path; eager to see where it would lead. It was pretty and quiet and, oddly, I was quite alone most of the time . When I reached the end of the path, I was at… an employee parking lot.
Proving – “If the path be beautiful, let us not ask where it leads.” Anatole France
Here is my entry for this week’s challenge.
Peace,

looks like a nice path for a solitary stroll:)
It was a little oasis of peace and quiet.
Nice herringbone pattern to the bricks – I bet the skateboarders would enjoy practicing their slalom skills along there 😉 interesting shot.
LOL!
I love this little garden. A number of years ago, I saw some beautiful roses blooming here. It’s just a nice little spot to sit and enjoy for a little time.
So true.
I have walked along that path several times and yes, it is lovely. Thanks for sharing.
How great!! I like how the blogosphere reveals unexpected moments of connection.
Certainly looks like it leads to something more — imaginative!— than an employe parking lot. Ideally you would find Mary Poppins and Bert waiting at the end of the path — at least.
That would have been supercalafragalisticexpialadoshus!
a beautiful path – i especially like that there are so many trees and shrubs framing it. thanks for sharing this.
It is a nice little restful patch of green; a stones throw from the rather barren and dusty National Mall.
