Sh*t (Transplanted) New Yorkers Say

Hi F&F,

This video was shared with me by a friend and fellow native New Yorker, Monique.  It cracked me up.

A word of WARNING – This is NOT a tutorial for the newly transplanted resident.  Yes, New Yorkers have been known to say some of the lines and demonstrate some of the behaviors depicted in the video, but what you need to know is, we barely tolerate it in each other and we never tolerate it in those who are not fluent in the local patois and culture. If you misquote, botch your delivery or take a misstep regarding proper context – you will be ridiculed.  Your false move will expose you as a “student driver”.  And you should know that, unlike other places where student drivers are given a wide berth on the road – in NYC we like to mess with them. If you are on the road we will ride right over your ass.

Watch the video; have a good laugh; learn the lesson; drive safely (or better yet take the subway). Class dismissed.

Peace,

About atreegrowsinbklyn

I’m an analog girl living in a digital world. I’m happy except when I’m sad. I’m serious, smart and sophisticated except when I’m silly, obtuse and crude. I’m ambitious and disciplined; except when I’m apathetic and self indulgent. I‘m thoughtful, generous and honest; except when I’m insensitive, cheap and lying. I’m grateful; I’m grateful; I am grateful.

I bet I’d love this — but the video won’t play for me! Is it because I left New York, and it’s mad?

  3. Moe says:

LOL!!! Soooo funny! I’ve said all of those things and more! (except for “I don’t go to Brooklyn”….Brooklyn RULES!!!)

  4. eof737 says:

    Hysterical! 😆

Comments, questions and suggestions are welcome. The occasional ping is music to my ears.
